As we prepare for the launch of our Spring 2015 season – complete with ten £10 tickets for every show – we look back on the launch of the £1 ticket scheme in December 2013. It has been one year since we started this initiative to encourage people to take a risk on a show that they would not otherwise go and see. By selling them first at Deptford Market, we give priority to our most local audiences to try something new. One year and two season launches later, we aim to reach even more at our next season launch this Wednesday 10 December with an exciting Spring season programme not to be missed. If you’re up for taking a chance on something new, or have not visited us before, pop by our stall under the pink pagoda from 9am until 1pm to chat with us about the new season and get your hands on a £1 ticket.
‘More than 225 tickets were sold through the market stall [on 6 December 2013], alongside a second release at the box office on the day, with around 60% bought by first-time customers.’ Read about it in The Stage here.
‘It’s about who you want to see the work, and even how you want that work to be received.’ Read our Head of Communications’ thoughts about it in the Guardian here.
